of Margaret Woolley
1937—2004
She was an accomplished artist, bird watcher and friend.
I recall asking her about the woodpeckers in my trees. She knew just what species they were. Her interests were widespread, her humor was kind and yet incisive.
She was the most supportive of friends.
When I was designing this print,
I realized that she would have loved the little Downy Woodpeckers.
The bare trees in the background
tell how much I miss her.
